I bracket my shots and, at minimum, delete two of every three images shotĪlmost all of my images go from raw to final JPEG in PL. I'd love to do everything in PL5 but it lacks some important functions for me, such as side-by-side comparisons. Why wouldn't you do everything in PL5? What's the purpose of producing DNGs? I hope I'm on the right track so I can fully commit to Photolab. This would allow me to archive my original RAF files. Open newly created Linear DNG, make further changes. Make other necessary changes (what are they?). I suspect that the answer I seek incorporates: Open RAF in Photolab. I haven't explored what this means, so I wonder what it means! I have exported a few Linear DNG files and I see that I get an icon on the thumbnail display, indicating "Some corrections are not available with Linear DNG files". Bear in mind that a typical bird-in-flight photo could be 80% or more sky to be cropped away. I want to determine what I should do in this initial processing stage before exporting. I have a vague idea that I'll get improved results if I copy RAF files directly to my hard drive, cull them, use Photolab for a bit of processing including crop, then export to Linear DNG. (Note these steps were all previously performed within the subscription software I am leaving!) Then I compare and cull images in Faststone Image Viewer. I am trying to determine whether DxO's linear DNG files should be incorporated into my workflow.Ĭurrently I convert Fujifilm RAF files into DNG format with Adobe's DNG converter while copying to my hard drive. That means that I generally crop heavily to frame my subjects to my liking. I am a hobbyist wildlife photographer, primarily bird photography. My only remaining task is to develop a RAW workflow with DxO Photolab 5 for processing my Fujifilm raw files. I can practically smell the air at the finish line. I am on the verge of finally leaving behind subscription software.

This means that with each batch, a second, baby SCOBY or pellicle is formed. The "mother" pellicle will grow "babies" with each batch of kombucha you brew as more cellulose is produced. The pellicle is made of bacteria and yeast cells and is held together by cellulose. It sounds gross, and it looks gross, and it feels gross, but it's a necessary gross! The more sugar a drink has, the more alcohol can ferment. But alcohol can develop over time in unpasteurized versions because the yeast is still alive, converting sugars to alcohol. Kombucha makers say it leaves production with almost no alcohol. Pasteurized versions - where the yeast and bacteria are heated, much like milk - are still for sale because the process kills the yeast, which make the alcohol. THE ORIGINAL VIBRATING ALARM CLOCK- Since 1980 the Sonic Alert Sonic Bomb Alarm clock has been the strongest alarm shaker on the market for heavy sleepers and deaf individuals.Only time it ever fails me is if it falls (at my fault), if another app overrides it (can’t help it), or if I just forget to open the app before bed. Overall, great loud alarm app with great features. The name of the app helped me find it a lot easier, definitely happy about that. Being able to change the theme, background, and design color for free was an added bonus, other Alarm apps usually make that a purchasable feature, so not being forced to fall asleep to a mini flashlight I couldn’t avoid was nice. Giving review and sending feed back both give you espresso too, but that’s just a normal app growth thing and you’re never constantly harassed by the app asking for a review so its ok. The “Espresso” system is one of my favorite parts, you don’t need to actually spend money to get them, its more of a reward system, get some for setting the first alarm, then a little bit each day for using the app and getting up to the alarms. I sleep through a lot of alarms and am a pretty heavy sleeper, but these alarms can actually get me up and moving. Wake up!! I’m telling everyone about this app and whoever created this, thank you is a absolute understatement. Now granted this alarm wakes up the entire house, but I truly don’t care at this point. Doing regiments, taking meds, and still no results. I’ve been to sleep studies and bought so many different alarms and nothing helped. How can you just tell your job, I CANT WAKE UP, but hey Sorry for being late. My military career in the Air Force was nearly ruined because of this. I also conditioned my children to do the same thing, and it’s very sad in the morning waking up, knowing I’m failing them because they keep missing school and I’m too embarrassed to walk them in the school at 10am, almost during lunch time. I’ve even been scared to commit to jobs or events because i knew I couldn’t wake up. I have lost jobs, been put on suspension, written up, talked about, missed so many appointments and opportunities. I have suffered from not being able to wake up for over 10 years.
Behind the Songs 1) Rhythm of the Rain- Early one morning, the sky was dark and the clouds looked heavy, it felt like rain. An artistic package that conveys the music is so important. Seeing the CD in black reminded me of my old records, so we designed it to look like a 45 record, which tied the vintage feel with my idea of music as a souvenir perfectly! Even though digital music diminishes the need for a physical CD copy, I feel the artwork is a big part of the album. My graphic designer, Matt Strieby of New Leaf Design, was able to capture my idea perfectly! Deciding to keep the CD graphics simple, the first proof was a solid black CD with just my name and title. I liked these vintage suitcases and had the idea of old sheet music laying on top. When I began looking at images, I wanted the concept to reflect travels, memories and souvenirs while conveying the musical aspect. I hope the music takes you somewhere memorable! The Album Artwork I never really have a visual concept of the image I want for the album until I am actually finished recording. Every album I create is a musical journey and the songs are souvenirs. Each song has particular meaning to me, a memory, feeling or image. I chose the title Souvenirs because a souvenir is a memento or keepsake, but the object is only significant to the owner because of the memories attached to it. For many, hearing a certain song can remind you of a place or time in your life, recalling memories and stirring emotions. In the months following, the bits and pieces of melodies and variations began fitting together like a giant puzzle, until I had nearly 25 songs to record! Finally, in April 2014, I recorded at Piano Haven in beautiful Sedona on a magnificent Shigeru Kawai! After recording, I had to narrow it down to 14 songs which I felt belonged together on this album. As always, dealing with these difficult emotions resulted in lots of time on the piano, inspiring new compositions reflecting a myriad of emotions. Then, the loss of a dear friend to cancer, and the new diagnosis of this disease in close family members prompted me to take a step back and postpone the recording. When I sat down to practice a piece, I ended up writing down new ideas, until I had a complete binder full of music! As my recording date for fall 2013 approached, I was overwhelmed with this collection of mostly unfinished songs. Several songs on this album were written before the new piano arrived, but I found myself composing variations of this music, while also composing new pieces from beginning to end. However, I experienced a new surge of creativity, fueled by my new piano, a Kawai RX-7, with it's rich tone and incredible depth of sound, allowing me to express my feelings on the piano with a new freedom. Like all my albums, the writing came from many emotions and experiences, from feelings of joy and sadness, to gratitude and nostalgia. SOUVENIRS - solo piano About the Music The making of this CD was an interesting process for me.
